"Happy is the child who can play out in the street."
- Pele
As a photographer, I’ve always been fascinated by how people transform the urban environment into their own playground. A sidewalk becomes a gathering place, a wall becomes a backboard, and an empty lot becomes a field of possibility. I’m especially drawn to soccer, the world’s game, because it brings people together across cultures, languages, and backgrounds.
Through The Concrete Pitch, I use photography to capture the creativity and resourcefulness of people who find a way to play wherever they can. Their ingenuity is inspiring, but it also raises an important question: why should access to the game depend on where you live or the resources you have? By documenting these moments, I hope to celebrate the universal love of soccer while drawing attention to the inequalities that keep too many people from having a safe place to play.
