Pier 40

Hudson River Park, NYC
Pier 40 is a massive sports complex that sticks out onto the Hudson River, next to the West Side Highway and Houston Street. It has turf fields, indoor courts, parking garages, running spaces, baseball diamonds, and more. Due to its concrete concourse and open roof layout, Pier 40 is a top street soccer spot in the city that is almost always packed with players.

I wanted to shoot at Pier 40 because it is the place where I grew up playing soccer, and the space is symbolic of my childhood and my early playing career. It’s also one of the biggest and most well-known street soccer destinations in NYC, sitting right on the water, with the city skyline as its backdrop. Pier 40 always has games going as well as a super diverse crowd, so the space embodies everything that I am trying to capture.
